About Deptrum
Deptrum is a high-tech startup founded in 2018 by three scientists from Silicon Valley. Deptrum has raised three rounds of funding from Northern Light Venture Capital, Wu Capital, SBCVC and other VCs. It provides proprietary full-stack 3D vision solutions empowered by nanophotonics and artificial intelligence, so that machines can see and understand the 3-dimensional world. Deptrum developed a commercially-purposed nanophotonic chip and implemented the world's first Non-VCSEL 3D structured light solution. By manufacturing 3D cameras using its own supply chain, Deptrum provides high precision, cost-effective, power-efficient 3D vision solutions, which allow large-scale adoptions in AI devices, AR/VR, AIoT, New Retail, robotic vision and many more. 3D vision technology is creating a ten-billion-dollar market.

Li Zhu
CEO
Dr. Zhu received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley and B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University. During his Ph.D study, Dr. Zhu invented the first artificial chameleon skin, which was selected as Optics of the Year in 2015. He also developed the first flexible 1550nm wavelength VCSEL. Prior to founding Deptrum, Dr. Zhu led the depth hardware design team at Apple Inc. to develop depth-sensing hardware products. Dr. Zhu was selected as 30 under 30 by Forbes China for commercial technology in 2018. Dr. Zhu was also a gold medalist of International Physics Olympiad in 2006, 1st place and gold medalist of Asia and China Physics Olympiad in 2006 and 2005.
Bo Wang
CTO
Dr. Wang obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and B.S. from Tsinghua University. During his Ph.D. study, Dr. Wang developed the first in-memory database that supports hardware-based data-deduplication. He has extensive experience in parallel computing, distributed systems and heterogeneous computer architecture. Prior to Deptrum, Dr. Wang led the development of the deep learning platform at Zoox, a leading self-driving car startup in Silicon Valley. Dr. Wang is a recipient of the Stanford Engineering Fellowship and Accel Innovation Scholars. He served as the president of the Student Association of Science and Technology at Tsinghua EE Department.
Fanglu Lu
Chief Scientist
Dr. Lu obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of California, Berkeley and B.S. degree from Tsinghua University, both in Electrical Engineering. His advisor at Berkeley was Professor Connie Chang-Hasnain (a member of National Academy of Engineering), a world-class expert in VCSEL. With a research focus on nanophotonics and nano-lasers, he has published nearly 30 journal and conference papers, among which three won best student paper awards and one was selected to Spotlight of OSA (Optical Society of America). He was a recipient of "Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad".
